…and it will love you back!
Love is in the air – and it makes us think about romance and first impressions and building good relationships…
In fact, all the things that go into building a great brand: you want to make a great impression, to build good relationships with customers and potential customers, and to make them fall in love with you: your business, product or service.
And just like falling in love, building a brand is all about building in the feel good factor – from the inside out.
But where do you start? Well, for us, the story of love and the story of a brand aren’t all that dissimilar.
Take, for starters, the first date. You want to make a good impression so you get all dolled up. In business terms, that’s your packaging: you’ve made your product, premises or service look as attractive and inviting as possible using, among other things, colour (to stand out) and texture (to invite touch!). So you’re looking good, now for the hard part: the interrogation.
Because there will be question, lots of them. We would safely say that all first dates consist of 97% questions and 210% awkward answers. And yes we know that doesn’t add up but then love never does: the formula for the success of every relationship, business and personal, is difficult to define as it’s always greater than the sum of its parts.
Your date (potential customer) wants to know all about you: where you’re from, what you stand for and what makes you, you? Those are things that can be hard to define on a personal level, never mind when it comes to a business proposition: pinning your colours to the mast and hoping people will like you when your business future is on the line can be daunting.
But then, think about this: remember falling in love? Remember the dizzying feeling of not being able to stop thinking about that other person, imagining the next time you’ll be together and what you’ll do? It’s all consuming. And it feels good.
Getting people to think about your brand in that way is what really turns us on!
So we don’t make a meal of it. We get to know you and your business, how and where it meets people and what it has to say to them. Then we go about shaping your brand in a way that people will be attracted to, want to know more about, have fun and interesting conversations with and, of course, fall in love with.
Then you’re in branding territory where developing your brand isn’t a cost, it’s an investment: an investment in your reputation and the relationships that shape it, in the people that work for and with you and the people that are the lifeblood of your business, your customers. And, if you’re smart, you’ll invest in other relationships too: those with your community, businesses offering complementary products and services, or charity, because the best relationships are all about give and take.
And to get them right, it takes more than a logo, a Facebook page and some letterheads.
Building a brand goes beyond how it looks to how it makes your customers feel.
And that’s our job: to attract and engage people with your brand, choosing the best tools and channels, using them in the most cost-effective way. And because we take time to get to know you, where you are and where you want to be, we can get your message across from the inside out: creating the attractive proposition that follows through authentically and engagingly, bringing your customers on a journey they’ll love.
In short, take care of your brand, show it a little TLC, love it – and it will love you back.
If you like the sound of that, maybe we should arrange a date to talk, find out about each other, see if we’re compatible. We promise it will be 100% good.
